Founded by Major League All-Star pitcher, Jamie Moyer and his wife Karen, The Moyer Foundation's mission is to offer encouragement, comfort and support to children who are enduring a time of profound distress-whether physical, emotional or financial-and to provide opportunities for enhancing overall wellness, stability and quality of life.

With the community's support, The Moyer Foundation has raised more than $19 million to support over 200 different programs that directly serve the needs of children in distress. In addition to supporting programs through grants, The Moyer Foundation supports community partnerships such as The Gregory Fund, a fund for early cancer-detection research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, created and funds Camp Erin, the largest national network of bereavement camps for children and teens and Camp Mariposa, a camp for children affected by addiction/substance abuse in their families.

The Gregory Fund

The Gregory Fund supports early cancer-detection research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center - international leader in early cancer-detection research.

Meeting 16 year-old cancer survivor, Gregory Chaya, in 1993 was a life changing experience for Karen and Jamie Moyer-inspiring them to create this fund in Gregory's name.

Since its creation in 2003, the Foundation's annual Catch a Cure for Cancer® campaign has raised over $1.3 million for The Gregory Fund.

Camp Erin

Camp Erin is a bereavement camp for children and teens, ages 6-17, who are grieving the loss of a family member, friend or someone close to them. It is a weekend-long experience filled with traditional fun, camp activities combined with grief education and emotional support - facilitated by grief professionals and trained volunteers from local hospice and grief counseling agencies.

Camp Erin is an initiative created and funded by The Moyer Foundation and is free to all campers.

By 2012, The Moyer Foundation hopes to open camps in cities across the country, including every Major League Baseball city.

"When you look into the eyes of these children, you see their hearts through their stories. They are struggling to cope with and accept their circumstances, but they are learning that there is hope, that they are not alone and there is light in their eyes that maybe wasn't there before. We feel blessed to have been a part of this healing process and our hope is that we can bring this experience to more children so that no child grieves alone."
