Bone Marrow Donor Drive to Beat Leukemia
Derek Graffis is an awesome twenty year old young man from Bethlehem, PA in need of a Bone Marrow Transplant. Derek was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in March 2008 during his senior year at Liberty High School. New chemotherapy drugs have helped him temporarily achieve a remission state, but now Derek will need a bone marrow transplant for a longer term solution. This requires someone to be an anonymous bone marrow donor for him, someone who is a genetic match to Derek. Please help him and others by registering to be a bone marrow donor.
Thousands of leukemia patients depend on everyday people to donate life-saving bone marrow to provide them hope for a cancer-free life. If you are age 18 to 60, and in good health, you can register for the national bone marrow registry with a simple mouth swab and a short medical history. There is no charge for this event, but a monetary donation toward the $90 cost of the DNA laboratory screening tests would be greatly appreciated. Angel 34 hosts MLB Pitch, Hit, and Run
Aquafina® Major League Baseball® PITCH, HIT & RUN™ provides youngsters across the country an opportunity to participate in an exciting baseball skills competition. This national initiative gives boys and girls, ages 7 - 14, the chance to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities. Boys and girls compete separately at all levels of competition.
PITCH, HIT & RUN™ is intended to encourage youth participation and emphasize the "FUN" element of baseball. Since there is NO registration fee, everyone has the opportunity to participate.
PITCH, HIT & RUN™ tests three of the most fundamental aspects of baseball - pitching, hitting and running.

Private Donor Earns Their Wings
In August a Private Donor made a generous donation to Angel 34 in Memory of Nicole, only asking that the donation go to a either the ICEE Program and/or the Pet Therapy Program. The donor will be glad to know that their donation will help support both Programs. Their donation will help provide therapy dog jackets for both Simba and Hope and support the first two months of ICEE’s at the two new hospitals receiving machines this month (University of Maryland Children’s Hospital and Seattle Washington Children’s Hospital).

A BIG thank you to Kevin Shields (President) and Angela Palo (Vice President) of Pinnacle Financial Services for Sponsoring September 12th “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” for Angel 34. The children were treated to a game in the Bill Gile’s Suite with all the trimmings. They also received Philly souvenirs to cheer on the “Fightin Phil’s”.
Before the game the attendees were treated to a visit on the field during batting practice. Each of them got their share of autographs and even one got lucky to get Jimmy Rollins Batting Gloves.

My name is Hope (left) and I'm Simba (right) and we are the brother and sister Pet Therapy Team for Angel 34. We are both Certified Pedigree Labrador Retreivers and are registered with the American Kennel Club.
We have completed all our required elements for certification by TDI (Therapy Dog International) and have all our shots.
Out job is to visit children in hospitals, homes, and at Angel Field. Our mission is to make every child feel loved and special. If you would like us to visit please call our owners at 610-533-1923 to set up an appointment.

K-Kids Take Time Off Playing Field
To help Angel 34 make a difference in the fight against childhood cancer
On Saturday April 18th the Northampton Softball Team took some time off the softball field and visited Angel Field (B&B and Retreat) for children battling cancer in Nazareth. The team spent the day with 17 children and their families from Specialty Care and assisted them with Arts and Crafts, 1st Annual Egg Hunt, Planting Potatoes and Story Time in the Garden. Each child received a gift basket that their K-Kid Buddy picked out for them.

These were the words of the founder of Angel 34 when Keith Groller of the Morning Call interviewed her on her 15th birthday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital. This was a special day for Nicole. Not because it was her birthday, but because she was able to help other children by installing the first ICEE machine at the Lehigh Valley Hospital (Pediatric Floor). Her only birthday wish had come true.
Five years later thousands of ICEE’s have been served up to children battling cancer in other hospitals not only in the Lehigh Valley but in places like St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Penn State Hershey, Geisinger’s Children’s Hospital, Pittsburg University Children’s Hospital, Dayton Ohio Children’s Hospital, Victory Junction “ NC, Specialty Care of Lehigh Valley, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Beth Israel of Newark NJ.
Nicole was one to always remind you that “We are all Angels in disguise with God given talents to make a difference in the lives of others who are less fortunate”.

During the summer children and their families will be able to take part in daily activities that focus on family time while focusing on the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of the child and family. Through the programs the participants will be able to engage their imagination and playfulness.
Music Therapy Program

Art Therapy Program
Children and Family Members will be able to participate in this program. Aquatic Therapy
The Children and Family will be able to use the 49' x 20' in-ground sports pool located on Angel Field. Aquatic Therapy offers a variety of benefits to children including improvements in: mobility, coordination, strength, endurance, balance, and self confidence. These benefits are achieved through exciting water games and activities. The program will allow the children to have fun while accomplishing important therapeutic goals in individual and family settings.

Athletes On the Field, Angels in the Community
At your school athletes are back on the field competing and learning the value of teamwork. It is a privilege for all of us to work with these fine student athletes, and to watch them develop into mature adults. We are asking for your school's participation in a new program, Athletes on the Field, Angels in the Community, which is part of the Angel 34 organization.
We need your help to enlist a team from your school to sponsor one month of an ICEE machine's operation. The cost to sponsor the machine is $250. We also ask that members of the sponsoring team create a care package that may contain a get well note and pictures of the team and players. Angel 34 will provide your team with the name and address of the contact person at your hospital of choice. A list of teams will be posted on the web site and an Angel 34 Team Card will be sent in your team's name to the local hospital for that month. The board of directors of Angel 34 will then send a certificate of participation to your school identifying your team support of children battling cancer.
Sponsors can be made up of players from a single team or you can combine players from multiple sports. For example, captains from several of your smaller teams could join together to form a sponsorship.
