A BIG Heart
Even before the big event on October 18th the Cheerleading Teams were hard at work. During September the Cheerleading Teams of District XI did events at Friday Night Football games to help create awareness and funds for children battling cancer (Friday Nights for Hope). The teams got very creative at the games to bring their mission across. Teams did can and megaphone coin drives, Angel cutouts and chain link sales, t-shirt sales, gold ribbon sales, business can collections, Eat out with the Slater’s events, and numerous other activities to help make a difference. Troy Hein from Channel 69 announced how much was raised on the Friday Night Program (The BIG Ticket).
A total of $19, 993.00 was raised by the Teams during the Friday Nights for Hope Campaign. Bangor High School won the Sweet Pea Award for its efforts. The Slater Cheerleading Team raised $7,300.00. The Koncrete Kids Cheerleading Team won the BIG Quacker Award by selling the most ducks (583).
Community Bank Makes a Ducky of an Impact
KNBT Bank did a great job in the month of September (Childhood Cancer Awareness Month) by selling ducks in all their Northampton and Lehigh Valley Branches. Every branch that you visited during the month of September you saw those cute yellow ducks everywhere. The winning branch (Allentown PPL Branch led by Joyce Crosby) sold the most ducks and won the BIG Quacker Award for 2008.

Notre Dame High School Makes a Difference!
On December 20th, Angel 34 President Doug Sheriff and Treasurer Cheryl Wojiciki were invited to Notre Dame Green Pond by Junior Class Vice President Mary Kate Baran for a special presentation. The program began by student council executive board president Rachel Stocker presenting Doug with a $2,000 check for the foundation. Each month, Notre Dame High School chooses charities that will help make the student body more aware of those less fortunate in the world. Following the presentation, Doug provided a thirty minute motivational talk, "Defining a Champion". After his presentation, Notre Dame High School Principal Joseph Kramer, Athletic Director Tony Koury, and Rachele Stocker were presented with the "Sweet Pea" award from Angel 34. This award signifies those who make a difference in children's lives! Also, Graham (the Kay's Jewelry dog) was awarded as a gift to the school.
A big thank you to the entire student body, administrators/staff of Notre Dame High School and Cheryl Fenton, student council moderator!
